Frequently Asked Questions

Are Writing Room workshops open to beginners?

Absolutely. Writing Room workshops are open to writers of all levels:  from aspiring writers to accomplished writers. Each workshop lists which levels are appropriate: beginning, intermediate, or advanced.

Beginners are new to writing, in the process of learning the fundamentals of their craft and genre. Beginners probably have not taken many, or any, previous classes or workshops.

Intermediate writers have background knowledge of the fundamentals of their craft and genre and have devoted a substantial amount of time to their writing.  They have taken at least some classes or workshops and have begun to develop critiquing skills. They read extensively in their genre.

Advanced writers have, in addition to the experience of intermediate writers, extensive writing, reading, and course experience.

Is it possible to work individually with any of the writing teachers?

Private consulting, coaching, editing and critiquing services for all genres of writing – fiction, nonfiction, memoir, personal essays, poetry, screenwriting, playwriting, magazine writing and book proposals and more – are available, depending upon each teacher’s availability. If you would like to work with one of our teachers on an individual basis send an email to mindyfriddle@yahoo.com detailing your particular needs. We’ll help you to get matched up with an appropriate teacher. Rates depend upon the teacher and the service rendered.
